Quality of Outcomes

The Quality of Outcomes (QoO) KPA consists of a single performance indicator, Success Rates, derived from five Qualification Success Rates (QSRs):

• FE long courses excluding A-levels
• FE short courses
• A-levels including AS and A2
• Combined Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships (overall Qualification Success Rates)
• Train to Gain (overall qualification success rates)

The QSRs for the five constituent groups are calculated using the LSC measures applied in the Statistical First Release for FE colleges and Work-based learning. Each group of QSRs is transformed into a score using a pre-defined scoring grid that takes account of differences in success rates across the five groups. The score for A-level also includes a score for value added taken from the LSC’s Learner Achievement Tracker (LAT).

A starts-weighted average of the scores for the five groups is calculated and compared with the assessment criteria to give a grade between one and four.
